Homemade Ham Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked ham, chopped finely

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 teaspoon celery seed

  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped (optional0

  • 1/4 cup sweet pickle relish (or diced pickles)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: 1 hard-boiled egg, chopped

  • Optional: Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ham: Start by placing the chopped ham in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Mix the Dressing: In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Stir until well blended.

  3. Combine Ingredients: Add the celery seed, red onion, sweet pickle relish, and, if desired, chopped hard-boiled egg to the bowl with the ham.

  4. Add Dressing: Pour the mayonnaise mixture over the ham and vegetable mixture. Stir everything together until thoroughly combined.

  5. Season: Taste your ham salad and season with salt and pepper as needed.

  6. Chill: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.

  7. Serve: Before serving, give the salad a good stir. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy it on sandwiches, crackers, or as a salad.

Storage

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It will last in the freezer for 3-4 months
